Open House at Kahuku Elementary

It's that time of year again ---- open house at the elementary school. I was worried thinking in my head how we were going to get to everyone's class during the short amount of time, and then I stopped. I only have two kids going to elementary school now. This was going to be cake.

This was the most relaxed open house, I think because I didn't have to make it short and quickly speed onto the next teacher. We took our time, letting the kids show us everything that they have done. Micah loves school and so does Kara.

They seem to be adjusting well this year and doing awesome. I am blessed with wonderful children.

Cub Scouts - Round 2

Since Micah has turned 8, the world of Cub Scouting has entered our lives again. We're glad because we missed it. Micah is loving Cub Scouts. He has so much fun with his friends

He's progressing well, already achieving a bead towards his Wolf Rank.

Our pack does a little Native American ceremony when receiving advancements. The kids have fun with it.

These are the boys that earned their feathers

They are a fun bunch!

Here's the whole pack. They had a lot of fun showing us parents what they've been learning all month.

We love Cub Scouts!!

He's Still Alive - Yay!

He's made it through a few scrimmages intact. Phew. This football thing is not for mothers. Either that or I'm just a sissy.
It is hot out there. I feel so sorry for those boys, but they just keep on playing.

There he is in action. He's gotten tackled a couple of times. He said it did knock the wind out of him a little, but got up and went right back into the game.

I Don't Know How Much More of This We Can Handle

His cuteness overwhelms us all.

The "adorability" factor is off scale.

I guess we're just going to have to endure it.

Good thing we don't mind ; )

Football - What Was I Thinking

Football has been something that Tyler has been wanting to do for a couple of years now. He finally committed to doing it. I'm all for encouraging my kids to participate in sports, but I was a little hesitant with this one. I worried inside as I signed the permission slips and waiver forms. If you can't find me at the games, it's not because I don't love my baby. It's because I do love my baby and worry that he'll get hurt.

Shhhh. Don't tell him I called him baby.

This is our first experience with football. Should be a fun and interesting one.

A Baptism and Birthday Celebration (Part II)

The Birthday Celebration

After the baptism, we all raced home, changed, and met up here, at the pool for some fun!

Micah had asked if we could do a pool party. I booked it here. I wish I had taken a picture of the whole pool. Only because it was almost ridiculous that we had an olympic size pool for the amount of people we had. Let's just say it was very disproportionate, but it didn't really bother us.
Cousin Jett. He's getting to be a such a young man.

Micah and Seth waiting to set up.

More cousins joining in the fun.

The birthday boy, shying away from the camera.

Little Taizo, with family in the background.

Once the tents were up, the food was served. Teri burgers were the stars of the menu, with all the fixin's to go with it.

I think it was a winner.

Wished I had snapped more pictures of pool time. It was so humid, that even the baby and I jumped in. It felt so good. Micah was in the water almost the whole time, which I'm glad. We were happy to see him having so much fun.

One of our favorite families ---- The Hippolites!

If you can't guess, it's that flying creature from Avatar.

Tanith!!!

Cake time. Of course the wind was blowing. We had those tin covers up to give us cover.

Blow hard!

They're picking out which piece they're gonna eat.

My friends - Tetua, Polly, and Michelle.

After swimming for two hours, the boys moved on to some football. Uncle Benny led the gang.

Pretty girls.

Monkey cousins.

Kara fooling around with Sara.

A profile pic for FaceBook perhaps.

We came, we swam, we ate, then we went home. We were all exhausted! We were all full! We were all happy though from having such a fun day! Micah said he had such a great time! He loved it all.
Micah, we are so happy that you are part of our family!!! We were so honored to throw a fun birthday for you!!

We love you!! Happy Birthday!

A Baptism and Birthday Celebration (Part I)

The Baptism

Today was Micah's baptism. We were all so excited for this day. We had prepared for it and were happy the day had arrived. I was probably the most relaxed for this baptism. Don't get me wrong, I was still nervous, but not as much as I had been with the other children.

After going through three baptisms, I remembered to snap this shot before all the craziness started. I'm so glad I did.

I know this was Micah's baptism, but I was proud of Kara this day. When we were planning out the program, my shy little Kara volunteered to give the talk on baptism. I asked her several times if she was sure she wanted to give a talk. She was positive. From the moment she got the ok, she set to work on her talk. She did awesome! I wished you had all been there to hear her.

Tyler helped out where he could. He passed out the program and offered to give the opening prayer.

Here's how the program went:

Conducting - Bro. Akina
Opening Song - "Baptism"
Chorister - Sis. Graham
Pianist - Sis. Le'i
Opening Prayer - Tyler
Talk on Baptism - Kara
Baptism Ordinance performed by Dad (Randy).
The missionaries gave a 5 minute presentation while we waited for Randy and Micah to change.
Special Muscial number - Kara and Leigh singing "Today on My Baptism Day"
Talk on The Holy Ghost - Mom (Malie)
Confirmation of Holy Ghost by Dad (Randy)
Closing Remarks - Bro. Akina.
Closing Song - "I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus"
Closing Prayer - Aunty Jan

Friends from the ward came out to support Micah: the Nakayama's, Reid's, Kai's, Castle's, Graham's, Le'i's, Hippolite's. Hopefully, I didn't forget any other names.

Family was there as well. All of Randy's family came out to help us celebrate.

Micah was so happy for his baptism. He could feel the love and support from everyone for his choice to be a member of Christ's church.
