I've posted some things that have been going on this busy week (trying to stay on top). I just realized, I didn't post Tuesday's pack meeting. I'll get to it. Also, I have been bad about taking pictures, not sure why. I also posted two days from the beginning of August. My twilight friends would probably think the picture of me reading would be funny (or not). That one is "Ali'i Beach". Another post is "A Jillion Pieces". More to come.

Breaking Dawn Party!

After Randy got home, I settled everyone done, got dinner made and headed out the door for a girls' night out. Kathy Ho invited me over for a little get-together with other Twilight Saga fans, for a Breaking Dawn book party. Kathy, of course did such a great job with decorations being in sync with the theme, prizes for the games played, and the coolest favors to go home with. The refreshments were delicious (whoever made that chocolate cake dessert with strawberries, I need that recipe). I had my camera but was too busy winning the trivia quiz to take pictures. That trivia quiz just proved that I am a walking Twilight Encyclopedia. I will never laugh at anyone again for having an obsession. All I have to do now is figure out how to get paid for knowing all this useless information. LOL. 

Go Warriors!!

Today was the start of University Hawaii football. This is a big deal in the Sasaki household. When living in AZ, we would travel to Las Vegas whenever they were playing, games would be ordered on pay-per-view, or over the internet, to give an indication of how much dedication goes to this team. This year's first kick-off began at 6:30 am. Randy took the kids over last night, set up camp (literally) in the grandma & grandpa's yard, for a fun sleep over with the cousins. Unfortunately for him, I had to work that night, which is why he was in the tent and not me. When I asked Randy how everything went, I received the answer that I was expecting. With less than 5 hrs sleep in a tent, 10 noisy kids, and a puppy to play with, the whole event was a blur. To top it off, UH was blown out of the water in their first game. When asked if the sleep over and getting up at 6:30am to watch was worth it, a resounding "YES!" was his reply. Spoken like a true fan.

Go Big Red!

Tonight we attended a BYU-Hawaii Volleyball game. With the exception of Leigh, the news was greeted with lots of moaning and murmuring from the other kids. Despite the negativity, we threw everyone in the van and drove to the CAC for some fun. BYU-Hawaii is our alma mater. They are my favorite volleyball team to watch. Leigh has a goal of becoming good enough to play for their team. They played against Nebraska (which was a pretty good team). Each game was close, but the lady seasiders came out on top. Go Big Red! The kids surprisingly, enjoyed themselves as well. I keep forgetting my camera, hopefully next time.

A Silly Monday

Our Monday started out like any other, but quickly turned silly after dinner. Kara was helping me do dishes. There were a few left so I let her do them all by herself (I'm so nice). Well, Kara is what you would call a "method actor" (I think). She likes to really get into character when doing something. She decided that if she was going to do dishes, she was going to look the part. She found Tyler's hat that he got from cafeteria duty at school (that's right, child labor is practiced in Hawaii. LOL). Put that on, used one of my pillow cases as an apron and got to work. Randy and I thought it cute and funny. We had to get a picture. She did a good job with the dishes as well.

After dinner we had FHE where everyone (except me of course), was just silly. Randy was leading the music and began doing hula actions while leading, which in turn got the boys to get up and copy him (BTW, the song was Love At Home). Picture that. The best was Micah's part. We have a segment that we changed from Activity to Article of Faith. We concentrate on one AOF a month, to help the kids learn it and remember it. We are on AOF #8. We played telephone to illustrate how important it is to have something be translated correctly. Here's how it went:

#1 mom - translate the bible
#2 micah - transulate the bible
#3 randy - transulated by the boy
#4 leigh - translated by the boy
#5 kara - travis is a bad boy
#6 tyler - the dark lord!

There you have it. The reason why it is important to translate things correctly. 

P.S. The kids have gotten creative with trying to figure out what to do when they've done their homework, and not watch TV. Since yesterday, they've been making towers (they call it) with the cards we have around the house. I'm surprised at how long they will do that. The tricky thing about making those is that in our house they fall easy because the house vibrates a lot. Why you ask. Well, in Hawaii, a lot of homes on the north shore are built on stilts like ours. So if you walk hard enough, the whole house vibrates. So everyone's been getting yelled at by each other to walk softer. LOL. Leigh's is a picture of what happens when the house vibrates.

Chicken Strips and BYUH

This morning as I was getting breakfast going, Micah proclaimed, "Awwwwh. I don't want to go to school today. (growl). But I want to eat chicken strips!" Needless to say, I laughed out loud and so did Randy. The dilemmas of a 5 y.o. For those of you still scratching your head at that statement, Micah was referring to what was on the menu at the cafeteria for lunch today. He did go to school with some resistance but then conceded to another day of school. He has improved. He does go now on his own. Yay Micah!
After dropping the kids off to school, Randy and I drove down to his work. There was a meeting at BYUH for all the faculty, staff and administration, where they would welcome the new employees. The spouses were invited to attend. So I took advantage of having no kids and joined my husband. I have just enjoyed seeing all the familiar faces from friendships before. I also enjoy just being on the campus. After being and working in other places for Randy and I, you really appreciate how special BYU-Hawaii is. After spending all morning with him, we had lunch. I know, I'm spoiled. I then headed home to pick up the kids from school (they have early release on Wednesdays). We got home, did some homework, then headed back to BYUH to go swim in the pool there. The kids really enjoyed that good old chlorine water. After swim, we headed home to relax. That evening we went over to the elementary school for Kara's open house. She had made a dinosaur diorama. She had done a good job. My little ar-teest!


I took the kids home and headed out the door back to BYUH (it's 7 mins from my house in case you were wondering), for a dinner they were having for the new employees. Let me just say they have some good chefs there. It was great food! It was a busy day but a fun one. It also helped me to see what a blessing it is, not only for Randy, but for the rest of us, for Randy to be working at BYUH.

Catching Up!

I'm not quite there yet with all my posts, but I am catching up. I have the most recent post up, and am trying to (randomly it seems), work backwards. I posted, along with this recent one, Micah's birthday (in July), and Memorial Day (in May). Happy reading.

Happy Birthday Callie . . . and Aunty Julie . . . oh yeah, and Tanith.

August 18th is a special day in the Sasaki Clan. We have three family members born on that day. Cool huh. The first is Aunty Julie, then Tanith, and now Callie (Aunty Julie's daughter). Today we gathered at Callie's house for her 1st birthday!!! It was fun! We did all kinds of things:



- got dirty -saw bugs -pet a dog -ate cake -started a fire
-ate food -made smores -ate food -talked with friends
-talked with family -played games -did I mention eating food?

It was a night filled with activity and fun, and we are so glad we were able to be a part of the celebration. Happy Birthday Girls!

A Jillion Pieces

Randy's youngest sister, Aunty Jill (as she is best known as), started her own little business. She's been doing it for over a year now. She makes jewelery, cute jewelery, actually it's more like delicious jewelery. I think she is inspiring because this is something that she enjoys to do, and she has been making a living out it. Way to go Jill. She sells her stuff online at myspace.com/ajillionpieces. You should check out the website because the pictures show her pieces well. BTW, they're great christmas and birthday presnts as well (I know, I'm shameless).
She had her first craft-fair event. We decided to check it out. The whole family was pretty much there to support her. It was a fun day being there.

The top-middle picture is Jill, she's wearing pink. The other picture on the bottom-left is Jan (the oldest of the 3 sisters). Julie was there as well helping out. Kara modeling a piece that grandma bought for her. The boys went and did something manly, they got sharks painted on their arms (cave-man grunt here).

Done!

I finished the book! With some planning of meals ahead of time, and intermittent breaks to check on the survival of my family, I read the last page today. I agree with Shannen, that it was the best out of the whole series. Let me just say, I had the most fun reading it, mainly because the texting between chapters and scenes with some of you was great. Every time I stopped to read, I had my phone with me (you'd think it was my bookmark). Thank you guys!!! Let me know when the rest of you are done.

Ali'i Beach

My sister-in-law attends the ward that we used to be in before ever moving to AZ. We still feel a part of that ward due to the many friends we have there. Jan invited us to their ward picnic they were having at Ali'i Beach Park (which is in Haleiwa). After driving to Walmart first for some miscellaneous items, a bathing suit, and Breaking Dawn, we headed back to Haleiwa. We were successful with all but the swim suit for me. Oh well, I will just have to keep looking.

The kids were happy to be going to the beach, and especially since there would be cousins to play with. The boys played in the sand and surf. We had a hard time (or at least I did), getting the kids from the beach to the grassy area for some lunch. Lunch of course, was a potluck of irresistable local kine grinds (hehe). Jan and Aaron and their gang had to leave early. We stayed behind for 2 more hours of fun in the sun. There were turtles in the water close to us. Every 5 mins, you would see them pop their head out of the water for a breather. One popped his head out, which caught Micah off guard because it was closer than he was comfortable with. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Micah had caught a baby crab and was playing with it. All of sudden he started screaming, and I figured out, he dropped the crab in his pants (keep the comments clean now). He was jumping up and down screaming. I was laughing. I told him to take his pants off. He began to do it, then came to his senses that he was in a public place (I know, I still have it in my head that he's younger than he is), and looked at me like "are you crazy". I then directed him to go in the ocean and do it because no one would be able to him. Here's where it gets a little complicated. The turtle that was slowly moving to shore was still in the water. Which was scarier, the turtle, or the crab in the pants. Micah opted to get rid of the crab, he hesitated, but finally resolved to jump in the water. He stripped while in there and got rid of it, we think. He put his pants back on and came out. This is why I started blogging (LOL).

Yes, that is me under that towel. I buried myself in my highly anticipated book of the year "Breaking Dawn". I didn't realize Randy took these pictures of me until we got home. The towel on my head was for two reasons, to cut down the reflection of the sun off the sand and to keep from getting too wet when the rain showers passed through. It was a fun day, thanks for the invite!
