Evening at the Beach

 After a day of conference and being in the house, we finally made it to the beach. It was a little late for beach time, which meant that it was kind of too cold to jump in the water. That never stops these two.
 
 Micah and Kara got right in the water without any hesitation.
 
 Jace and Tyler just sat on the beach watching.
 
 We were too cold to go in ourselves. It was just nice to be out of the house though.

 Jace had wondered off by the outside showers and got himself all wet. It was starting to drizzle, the sun was setting and it was getting a little colder. Kara trying to save her brother from the cold.

 I love this shot. Jace is such a lucky little baby to have all these siblings who are always looking out for him. And I'm a lucky mom too ; ) It was cold, but we still managed to enjoy our early evening.

General Conference Weekend

General Conference is upon us once again. And as is tradition in our home on the Saturday morning break between sessions, we have doughnuts from Ted's Bakery. It's a tradition that we try never to break. LOL!

Our personal favorites are their malasadas. In Hawaii when people think malasadas, they automatically think Leonard's Bakery. If you are ever in Hawaii, the best malasadas are at Ted's Bakery on the North Shore.

During conference, Kara showed me that she was drawing a picture of each speaker. I thought she did a great depiction of Elder Scott. Conference was great! Not perfect, but still able to enjoy what we could as a family.

Kahuku 1st Ward Pine Wood Derby 2012

It's a tradition in Cub Scouting that we look forward to every year.

We went a year without a Cub Scout and now we're back.

Couple of weeks worth of preparation for this moment.

Micah has his car checked and ready to go. He was so excited for it to be his turn.

Jace wasn't sure what was going on, but it was a lot of excitement and he was taking it all in.

There he goes. Micah won the first heat. I think after that first run, his nerves were calmed. As well as mine. I tend to get nervous for my kids.

Micah did well in all the heats. He ended up being first! He was so happy.

Pinewood Derby Prep at Grandpa's House

Pinewood Derby is this coming Wednesday and we're a little crunched for time this year. We drove down to Grandpa's to complete the car.

 Pinewood Derby cars is a hobby of grandpa's. He rebuilds real-life cars and I pinewood derby cars as well.

 After sanding and priming, Micah's car was ready for painting. As you can see, this is serious business. Haha.

Grandpa took out a make shift track to see how fast Raiden's car was. Micah's wasn't ready enough for it to be tested.
A couple of more finishing touches and we should be ready for our ward Pinewood Derby.  Good luck boys!!

A Saturday Afternoon

Micah and daddy got started on Micah's Pinewood Derby car for this year. Grandpa had cut it out, and all week Micah's been sanding it. Now it's time to prime it (I think).

 
 Guess who wants to go outside and join them. I had to close the door at one point because he was so sad we wouldn't let him go out there.

I love watching Randy working on projects with the kids.

Inside, Kara and I are working on a sewing project. We're lining the inside of a shoe box.

It took us about an hour done. The only thing I forgot was a to take a picture of the final product. Just know that it was cute ; )

Modeling

So while the younger boys and I are at the beach, Kara and Leigh are having their own little photo shoot in the drive way. Leigh loves to take pictures and Kara loves to be her model. It's a win-win for all! LOL!

Quick Stop at the Beach

We had 30 minutes to kill, so we went early to pick up Dad from work. On the way, we stopped at Hukilau Beach for some play time in the sand. I think the boys loved it!

Night at the Park

Thursday night at the park. We decided to take a walk over to the local park to let Jace run around. He was feeling kooked up from being in the house all day.

Elementary School Fitness Meet

So remember when I went to the kids' school and took pictures of them doing their fitness testing at school. Well, Micah did well enough in "broad jump" and "sit and reach" to make the school team. This was great for Micah. He enjoyed going to practices everyday after school and being part of the team.
The Fitness Meet was all the way in Hawaii Kai at Kaiser High School. For those of you who aren't familiar with the lay of the land here, that's an 1 1/2 hr drive for us. This morning I made sure Micah had his lunch and he made it to the bus by 7:15am. Next, I got the kids out the door in time for school. Randy and I finished getting ourselves ready and headed out the door. The flyer we had said the event was to start at 10am. We walked through the door at 10am, only to find out that the organizers decided to start at 9:45am and so we missed it because the 3rd graders were first up. (big sigh).
That's okay. I think Micah still appreciated that we drove all that way to see him.

P.S. (4/19/12) WE FINALLY RECEIVED WORD THAT MICAH HAD PLACED 3RD FOR THE BROAD JUMP. CONGRATULATIONS MICAH!!

It was a rainy and cloudy day. We didn't get many pictures because of the rain. I snapped these of Jace while we were hanging out outside watching the races.
When I had enough of getting wet and chasing around a baby, we headed home. We grabbed Micah and had lunch at his favorite spot --- McDonald's. It was a fun day with Micah. We have yet to hear if he placed or not. We'll keep you posted.

She Can Dance

Leigh was part of a dance team that they had at Kahuku High. She LOVES to dance, aaaaand I think she's pretty good at it. She gets it from ; )

This was the girls walking out to perform during half time at a BYUH Women's basketball game. She said she loved performing in front of everyone. I don't have pictures of her dancing because I was filming it.

I went out after and was able to get this shot of the whole team. Looks like a fun bunch of girls.

Aaah teenagers. They're so much fun. Good job dancing tonight girls!
