Malaekahana After a Storm

It had been storming lately, but finely the sun came out and we were not going to just sit at home. After doing chores we headed to the closest beach. We kind of forgot what happens to a beach after a storm.

In case you're wondering, this is what happens to a beach. A lot of debris gets washed down from the mountains. Well. What do you do when you have a beach riddled with sticks.

You build dungeons.
You make forts.
Or whatever else your heart desires. The kids didn't care that there were sticks everywhere. In fact, it made for a fun afternoon of building.

Leigh's Birthday

It was Leigh's Birthday today!! My firstborn turned 14. Like the good girl that she is, she was very patient with all us because we were all sick as a dog to be doing any celebrating, and we were in the middle of getting our car fixed.

Bright and early, her Beehive advisor had come to wish her a happy birthday and dropped off a cake.

Sis. Napeahi, you are the bomb!

Later that morning, Sis. Lee came by and took Leigh out for a movie and lunch. Leigh had a fun day, thank goodness because the rest of us were sick as a dog.

Later Dez from her Mia Maid class came by and dropped these goodies for Leigh and wished her a Happy Birthday. I would post a picture, but was requested by both girls not to post it (due to them both just having had a shower.)

Later, when Randy and I were feeling better, we were able to get her birthday presents. Sonia Kashuk Make-Up and applicators and her favorite book series.

We didn't have cake until Monday. We were finally beginning to feel better then.

Leigh is such an awesome girl and our family is truly blessed to have her. She's talented in many ways and is growing up to be a great young lady.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEIGH!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

So Embarrassing!

I seem to be really good at getting myself into embarrassing situations. Granted having your car breakdown on the side of the road is not that embarrassing for me. Having your car breakdown and not having your cell phone can kind of be a little embarrassing. You know, because you have to ask a total stranger to borrow a cell phone.
I'll tell you what is REALLY embarrassing is when your car breaks down on the side of the road, you don't have your cell phone, so you have to jump out (in the rain) and ask to borrow someone's cell phone, while YOU'RE IN YOUR PAJAMAS!!!

It was quite a morning. It didn't help that I had just finished a shift at the hospital so I was going on 24+ hrs of no sleep. So not only was I embarrassed, but delirious. Welcome to my world. For more details of the event go here for the full story.

Finally! Tyler's Birthday Celebration

It took us forever, but we finally found a day that we were able to officially celebrate Tyler's birthday. We had all of Tyler's favorites for dinner: teri burgers, curly fries, and poke.

It was quite yummy. I made a mac salad for the first time. It tasted just like you got it from L&L's.

I can't believe he's 12 already. Time is going by too fast. Tyler is such a blessing to us. He's super smart, helpful at home, funny kid (very witty), and just a good boy.

After dinner we had gone to the movies, saw Kung Fu Panda 2, and came home and had this delicious ice-cream sandwich cake. Happy Birthday Tyler!!!

Tyler's 6th Grade Graduation

**Warning: I may not hold back on this blog as far as gushing over my son. I just want him to remember all the accomplishments that he had this past school year.

Today was Tyler's graduation from 6th grade. I can't believe I have another child going off to Intermediate School.

I love this picture that Randy took. Tyler is growing up into a young man.

During the graduation, Tyler was recognized for different awards. One was for Citizenship.

Another was for exceeding Academic Proficiency. He also scored the highest math score in his grade for the HSA, beating all but one kid in the GT program.

He was also recognized as doing Outstanding in Language Arts.

He was also recognized for being a Super Raider. We're so proud of you Tyler. I wished everyone in my family could have been there to see him.

Tyler receiving his Diploma and being congratulated by his teachers. That's Mrs. Ale, his homeroom teacher.

He's growing up so fast!

These are some of his friends from the ward. Onesi, Michael, and Hala.

Jace was a good boy through it all . . . just heavy to hold. Boy was it humid too!

His 6th grade class ready to perform their musical number. It was so fun to watch.

Another great buddy of Tyler's.

We're so proud of you Tyler and all that you've done this year. We can't wait to see what happens in the next 6 years. I'm sure it will be awesome!!!
