Can We Say "BUSY!!"

One of my resolutions has been to get back to blogging. So enough procrastinating.

This was a busy, busy day. Some pictures were taken and will be posted a little later, but I thought, I'd better write down what happened before I forget.

To start off, I woke up at 5am (on Saturday, I know ---- crazy). Why? I have been training to do the Great Aloha Run. It is a big race that they have here on President's Day. The race is 8.15 miles, from Aloha Tower to Aloha Stadium. Today was going to be busy, so the only way I could get a practice run was to wake up this early. I ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and . . . well, you get the picture. How long did I run? ---- 10 MILES! That's the longest I've ever run. It was dark and rainy. I was pretty wet by the end, but enjoyed it.

Due to the rain, the boys' basketball games were canceled (secretly I was happy). Randy took 3 of the kids to Aunty Julie's to celebrate Conner's birthday, whilst I hopped on the bus with Leigh to Laie for her volleyball tournament. Leigh has been out of commission with volleyball for the last month. Right before Christmas break, she dislocated her kneecap. Through some physical therapy and rest, she's been able to get back in the game. She did really well, I thought, didn't miss a serve. Randy and the kids joined us later in the afternoon to watch Leigh play.

Randy and I left the tournament a little early to get ready for my work party. Some of you may have remembered that I wasn't able to attend last year's party due to a road block. This year, I was determined to go. We were able to get a sitter at the last moment and head off to Turtle Bay Resort for some fun. We enjoyed mingling with my coworkers, eating the yummy food, dancing to great music. I even won a raffle prize. We got home late. By this point, my legs are killing me, particularly my calves. We'll see how I feel in the morning.

It was definitely a busy day. Now that I'm at the end of it, I see that it was a little too busy. Good thing days like these don't happen too often.

Sinus Rhythm, Atrial-Fib, V-Tach?

Today was my first EKG class. In case you are not aware, for Hawaii standards and probably the rest of America, where I live, would be considered country. The hospital I work at is a country hospital.

Well, the administration has decided that they want to start taking care cardiac patients. Not major cardiac, but ones that just have simple heart issues. Anyhoo, in order for that to happen, we nurses over at Kahuku Medical Center are being required to take an EKG course. I have never taken one in my life. I am excited, even though I'm kind of confused. It's a new challenge for me. It is a lot of studying and it's just a basic course.

Another excuse for not keeping up with the blog.

Happy New Year!

This year I was off from work and was able to ring in the New Year with my family. We were celebrating with Randy's family. Since we live kind of far, we went over with all our stuff ready for a big sleep over. We ate delicious food prepared all by my mother-in-law! I had been thinking about the food all week and couldn't wait to go eat.

We played games --- Scattergories was the game of the night. We laughed sooooooo hard ------ LOVED IT!!!! The kids got to pop fireworks outside with the men.

We stayed up till midnight, wished everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR and called it a "year" (hehe). Of course, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law made up a wonderful breakfast for us. I ate ALL day!

I was particularly excited for New Year's Day because Leigh was coming home. She was able to spend Christmas and New Year's with my parents in New Zealand. To pass the time, we went and watched Avatar at the theaters. Good movie!

Finally, it was time to go pick up my Leigh. We all went together and waited at the airport. The doors opened and there she was after her 8 hour flight. We were all glad to have her home!

Every time I try to upload a picture, I get this message:

responding.

We have a mac. Anyone with some answers, please let me know. It is driving me crazy.

I went today on everyone's blog to catch up and was feeling left behind in the blogging world, since I haven't been keeping up to date. So, to remedy this hopefully temporary problem, I will be using the PC .

We're having issues

We have a new computer. So naturally, I'm still trying to figure out how to do things. For some reason, it is not uploading my pictures so that I can put them on the blog. I think I have an idea of how to do, so wish me luck because there is a TON of stuff I need to put up here.

Twilight Saga: New Moon

Do you hear that? -------- It's the millions of fans screaming "thank-you" to Chris Weitz for his adaptation of New Moon from the book to the silver screen.

I first heard that Catherine Hardwicke was being replaced by Chris Weitz, I'm sure I wasn't the only one singing "halleluljah". I'm sorry, but Catherine Hardwicke was too cooky for me and her interpretation of Twilight was off. She missed the mark and gave us a shell of a story. Do I hate the Twilight movie --- not entirely. Do I want to start a petition for a redo of Twilight with Chris Weitz at the helm? ----- You betcha.

Knowing that I have no clout whatsoever in the world of moviemaking (to say the least), I will digress and focus on the movie at hand ---- New Moon.

It was awesome and I loved it!

New Moon is the slowest read of all the books, but the movie was great! I watched it and realized at the end, I did not have any complaints really (ok, maybe one, that vision that Alice had was a little weird).

Just from the trailer alone, I could tell that Summit had stepped things up, from the director to the special effects ---- this movie would at least be better than Twilight, and so it was ---- 10 x's better!

The story flow compared to the book was great, the acting was believable. My favorite scenes were mostly the break-up scenes: Edward and Bella in the woods, Jacob and Bella in the rain. I loved the reunion of Edward and Bella. My favorite line from the movie though was given by the wolves, which by the way were spectacular. I really did feel like the earth was shaking when I saw them. If you want to know which quote, text or email me ; ).

You always hear that the book is better, but when the credits rolled, there wasn't anything that I felt was left out or missed. The New Moon movie was the New Moon story.

Randy enjoyed the movie as well. Unfortunately, being that this was Jacob Black's story ----- he (meaning my husband), among many others are chanting TEAM JACOB. That's ok, I still love him.

We'll be revelling in the hype of New Moon for a while, but I'm sure the countdown for Eclipse has begun. My 9 y.o. is already asking when are we going to see the trailers for Eclipse. Yeah, I want to know too.
