Jett's Baptism

To end the busy week we have been having, we had the honor of attending cousin Jett's baptism! I especially had the honor of giving the baptism talk. Jett is the oldest child, so therefore the first of the kids in his family to be baptized. Jett is a smart boy, who loves playing with his cousins. He's a big help to his mom, always helping with his younger brothers. He's going to make an awesome Cub Scout. We are excited for him. Congratulations Jett! And thank you for inviting us, it was a GREAT party. Food, food, and more food.

In case you can't tell, Jett's the one in white. The others are his two younger brothers with Tyler.

Before blowing out the candles, my mother-in-law and I noticed that while the kids were singing "Happy Birthday" to Jett, Jett was studying the cake and candles, deciding what angle would be best to blow those babies out. He opted for the side and got them all in one blow.

These guns were the highlight of the party. Who knew PVC could be so fun. The kids would shoot mini-marshmallows out of them. So picture this, people eating at rows of table, while kids (some of them teenagers), were running around all that shooting marshmallows at each other. A lot of fun, but not to clean up. There was stuck marshamallows all over the floor when it was done.

After everyone left, Randy played some ball with the kids.

After cleaning up, we headed back to Jett's house to open presents, watch football, and eat. I was exhausted by this point and took a nap.

Temple Night

We were finally able to make it to the temple tonight (thank goodness). It has been a long time (don't ask). It's interesting how the adversary works hard to try to get you not to go. I had just dropped off my niece and nephew this morning, driving home, I was tired. I was so tempted to just go out to dinner with my hubby instead. The tiredness of my body said do it, but deep down I knew I was making excuses not to go. I'm glad I didn't give in. We needed to go, and need to keep going. Unfortunately, I recently found out that our lovely temple will be closing. I know it is for a good reason, but I was sad because I have lived far from a temple for a long time. Now that I live 7 mins away, it will be closing at the end of December for 18 months!!! I should be thankful however, that Hawaii has 2 temples. The other one is on the Big Island. I almost feel like the saints back in the day, when they would save everything they have to make 1 trip to the temple. I do not compare my circumstances at all with that, but feel humbled and know when I think about them, that I do not have an excuse not to go. Besides, it's a good excuse for a trip. Hope to see some of you in Kona.

Fun with the Cousins

Fall break has come and what do we do?
Invite over cousins, yeah, that would be cool!

Sunday night they arrive, the boys get to play,
Building marble tracks high, in every which way.

The girls get to work, they head straight for their tasks,
Painting finger and toenails, and donning face masks.

While the girls are at Activity Day, the rest head for the beach,
Searching for creatures and combing the reef.

Micah's so brave, he jumps in to get wet.

Will Kara join him? Hmmm. No ---- not yet.

Run Kara, run Micah, they run up the shore.
They never get tired, the beach is never a bore.

We headed out the door, for a late afternoon stroll,

Temple Beach is where we decided to go.

All the kids seemed to enjoy being with each other.
Not one of them fought, not one sister or brother.


Half-way through, they all stopped to be silly,
For some, it took effort, for others, not really.

The kids were standing together all huddled,
Around the infamous jelly-fish, aka "blue bubble".

That's really something, because they're hard to grab.

On your mark, get set, ready --- go!
They run back from Hukilau, not one of them slow.

Eeeww, look, "what is that?!", you say.
Well, we think it's an eel, smells like it's been there a day.

Before getting in the van to get Uncle Randy,
We rinsed off real good, cause we were all sandy.

Back the next day, for more sand and more surf.


We were out for 2 hours, it was just us on that turf.

Because two weren't enough, we called in more cousins.
Kids were everywhere, there must have been a dozen.

Each kid had a turn, with that ball to roll,
They'd do so with skill, a strike was the goal.

After 10 games of bowling, we high-fived the other team,
Called it quits for the day, and had some ice-cream!

Baby Shower

We gathered again for another celebration. Aunty Terri (married to Ryan, Randy's older brother), is pregnant and is having a boy. This is kind of exciting for them because even though it is their 3rd child, it's been 11 years since they've had a baby.

We made it a family affair, which is why you see men. Randy was questioning me how formal a shower this would be.

We made it a brunch. I LOVE brunch! All kinds of yummy stuff to enjoy, over and over and over again. Is it a surprise to any of you that I ate too much (good thing I like to exercise).

Games were played. My mother-in-law working hard on her worksheet for the game.

I thought it was funny that they men won the games. My father-in-law guessed the right number of kisses.

Leigh and baby Callie. She currently holds the title of youngest grandchild. She will soon be bested by another cousin, soon to be born, any minute now. 

Terri, the happy mother-to-be! Congratulations Ryan and Terri! We can't wait!

Another Football Game

UH had another game, which means another get-together at the Sasaki house in Mililani. We have been so busy here at our home with church things that we've missed that last couple of games and was planning on missing this one as well. Randy got done with his priesthood session and at the last minute (with much begging from our kids), we jumped in the car and headed over there. Randy goes for the football, the rest of us (including Randy), to be with the family. We really had fun eating and talking. I really love my in-laws and feel lucky to be apart of their family. I love hanging out with his sisters and sister-in-law. I mentioned after we got home, that whenever his sisters refer to me as their sister-in-law to someone else it makes feel special. Even though we got home late, I'm so glad we went.

Malls and Marbles

Today was the first day of Fall Break for my kiddos. We decided we would go visit PearlRidge Mall and just hang out. We had so much fun just window shopping, riding the monorail, tasting chocolate at see's, trying out toys at the toy store, and just being together. 

Of course while riding the monorail and being hundreds of feet up in the air, my son Tyler decides to share his thoughts of, "What would happen if this thing were to suddenly drop!" or "We could crash to the ground at any second". Me being afraid of heights, did not wholly appreciate the insight into the mind of a 9 y.o. boy. The other kids thought he was funny.

This was taken from the parking lot structure. My kids and I spotted 3 cats and a mongoose just hanging out. 

Ever since I saw this at my sister-in-laws house, I decided that I needed to get it because my kids would have fun with it. It's called "Marble Tracks".  They played with it all evening after we got home. Another proud purchase.
