Happy 4th of July

It's becoming a tradition I think ---- spending 4th of July at Waimea. I know, we were just here on Friday, but Randy wasn't with us then.
We got up early and made our preparations: spam musubi's (check), okinawan doughnuts (check), water for everyone (check), swimsuits on, towels in hand, and sunscreen in the bag (check, check, and check). We were ready and rolling out the door by 7:40am. Why so early, well, Waimea is a VERY popular beach with very limited parking. We were in luck. We were up early enough to beat all the sleepy heads for parking.

It was a little overcast, but still nice.

Here's our spot where up set up shop. It usually takes me a while to get in the water.

Tyler and Kara never waste any time jumping in.

Micah and Leigh jump right in as well.

The water was so calm. I finally jumped in and actually did some laps. It's a little weird to be swimming though and seeing all the fish and other creatures underneath.

Tyler and I taking a musubi break.

There was a sand bar that had waves breaking on them. Randy said, "No matter how small, the waves are always calling me." So he took Tyler's board out there and caught a few.

Kara and Micah making sand balls.

Enjoying the water.

The pictures show how beautiful the water was. I couldn't resist putting up so many of them. We were there all morning, swimming and playing games in the water. Like last year, we saw pods of dolphins swimming further out. It is really neat to see. One day, I'm gonna get a paddle board so I can get a closer view.

Randy and I watching the kids have fun in the water.

Our latest family picture. It was a fun morning. We washed up and headed home, where we took a break. Later, we all jumped in the car and headed out to good old Laie theater to watch Toy Story 3. It was a great day!!

My favorite beach in all the world! (Well, at least of the ones I have seen) I don't think I have ever been there when it was that flat. Nice pictures!
