Adventures on the North Shore

Today we decided to venture out and do the fun things they have on our very own North Shore.

Our first stop was "Turtle Beach". I don't think that that's the real name of it, but that's what our family has nicknamed it. Every time we need to go to Walmart, we pass by this beach. We always see a ton of tourist checking out the turtles that come to sunbathe. We were lucky to see one. By law, you aren't allowed to touch the turtles. It was fun to see how big they are.

We had to all stay behind the red rope.

We didn't stay too long, but while we were there, we did a little exploring.

The kids were climbing over the rocks to see what they could find.

Micah found this sea urchin wedged between the rocks.

After "Turtle Beach", we headed for Haleiwa for some shave-ice. Matsumoto's is the famous shave-ice shop here, but the lines are always long, so we always head to their neighbor, Aoki's and get shave-ice there. They are really yummy. The kids and I always have them put vanilla ice-cream on the bottom with azuki beans. So ono! We kind of did our meals backwards. After the shave-ice, we decided to have some lunch. Nothing fancy, just McDonald's. We grabbed our lunch and parked at a Haleiwa Beach Park and ate. We watched tourists come to see the beach.

Next stop --------- WAIMEA!!

The beach was so nice! The kids swam,

and swam,

and swam. I think Tyler stayed in the water the whole time we were there.

Micah and I played in the sand a lot. He found lots of cool, looking rocks.

Waimea is famous for it's waves and this huge rock that everyone jumps off of. The kids weren't about to jump off that rock, so they found a more manageable one instead. This was the last thing they did before leaving. It was hard to tear them away. It was a fun day and we didn't even have to go too far.
